RALLY OFFERS NEW LOOK AND ASSISTANCE PACKAGES FOR OVERSEAS CREWS
Fast
flowing stages over smooth desert trails to test drivers and
machinery
in climax to FIA Middle East series
Dubai, UAE, 19th October 2010: The
Dubai International Rally will run in December with a completely revised route featuring all new stages, and generous assistance packages
are available for overseas competitors tackling the final round of this year’s
FIA Middle East Championship.
The new stages are all fast
flowing with short “technical” sections to test the drivers and machinery, and
they will be in use for the first time when the competitive action takes place
on December 3-4.
Smooth and forgiving desert
trails outside Dubai have been carefully selected with the aim to get the
maximum number of competitors to the finish.
The Service Park will be based on
an asphalt surface and is conveniently located close to the stages, resulting
in a very compact event format.
Overseas competitors are asked to
contact the Automobile and Touring Club of the UAE (www.atcuae.ae), the rally organisers, for details of assistance packages to help with travel
and accommodation, and for other information.
“The Dubai Rally has a great tradition and reputation
and I am confident that the new stages will prove to be very popular with both competitors
and spectators alike”, said FIA Vice President Mohammed Ben Sulayem, the ATCUAE
President.
Dubai Rally 2
“We look forward again to welcoming a strong
contingent of competitors from overseas, and from a number of other Middle East
countries, and expect a very competitive event to round off the 2010 FIA Middle
East Rally Championship.”
Running traditionally over the UAE National Day
holiday weekend, the event will have a ceremonial start on December 2 from the
Old Town area of Dubai, overlooked by the stunning Burj Khalifa, the tallest
building in the world.
Over the following two days six stages of
approximately 22 kms each will all be run twice to produce a route of 280 kms.
